Kenya’s Ministry of the Interior, tasked with national security, has headhunted a top political editor to head its communication department.
Francis Gachuri, a dependable journalist at Citizen TV, is expected to take the reigns at a time when the ministry faces a tough banditry puzzle in Kenya’s North Rift.
The journalist speaking to The Star, confirmed the news but promised to release a statement later on.
In his new assignment, Gachuri will be responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing communication strategies that support the Ministry’s effective positioning and trust-building initiatives.
Additionally, he will also oversee all internal and external communication channels.
At Citizen TV, Gachuri had several positions, including Senior Political Reporter, Editor, and Commentator on News Gang.
Gachuri is also a news presenter at the Inooro TV division of Royal Media Services, where he hosts the Kiririmbi program, which airs from 8 to 9 p.m.
Kenyans.co.ke reports that Gachuri was born on December 23, 1980, and attended Senior Chief Koinange High School in Kiambu before joining Moi University, where he pursued a degree in Communication and Journalism.
