Raila Odinga’s chief agent in the 2022 presidential elections, Saitabao Kanchory, is threatening to sue Citizen TV journalist Trevor Ombija over what he calls malicious claims.

Kanchory, a lawyer, took issue with Ombija’s interview line when he hosted Odinga early this week.

Kanchory tweeted: “My Xmas holiday has been rudely interrupted by false and malicious claims by Trevor Ombija on Citizen TV that I said that Raila Odinga campaigns were disorganized and that agents were not paid.”

He added: “Unless I receive a proportionate apology in seven days, I am using.”

Ombija asked: “Your chief agent Saitaboa Ole Kanchory said that your campaign was disorganized, your command center didn’t work, and the agents were not paid,”

In response, Odinga remarked: “Absolute rubbish! His duty was at the Bomas of Kenya and not about the campaign, not about the agents and so on”.

In a recent special report by NTV, Kanchory blames the loss of Raila on politician Junet Mohammed, former ICT cabinet secretary Joe Mucheru, and Prof. Makau Mutua, the campaign’s spokesperson.

In the same broadcast, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino differed with Kanchory over Junet’s involvement, saying he was falsely crucified in the said election debacle.

The broadcaster is yet to respond to the lawyer’s threats.
