The Royal Media Services is mourning the death of a staffer in a suspected case of food poisoning.
Managing Director Wachira Waruru released a statement regarding the alleged food poisoning, confirming that it had affected an unspecified number of its staff working over the Christmas shift.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened to inform the public that one staff member has unfortunately succumbed to the illness attributed to the suspected food poisoning,” said the statement.
According to Waruru, RMS engaged the services of a food catering company to provide meals for staff working during the Christmas shift.
“I started feeling weird after eating the meals but ignored it. I realized it was a bigger problem afterwards. I got complaints from some of my colleagues we were working with on the shift,” a senior journalist at RMS confided with Presshub Africa.
The MD says several staffers have been hospitalized over the same but expressed that they were extending support to all those affected.
Details on the contracted catering company have yet to be divulged by RMS, even as the MD affirmed that investigations would be conducted into the happening.
