Nairobi, May 6, 2025 — The Kenya Correspondents Association (KCA) is set to host a high-level breakfast forum in Nairobi on May 7 to reflect on the state of press freedom under the global theme “Reporting in the Brave New World – The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Press Freedom and the Media.”

The event, taking place at Hillpark Hotel, is part of KCA’s ongoing decentralized approach that includes eight regional forums across the country—from Kisii to Turkana and Mombasa—to promote grassroots participation in press freedom discussions.

This year’s focus goes beyond traditional threats to journalism, spotlighting ethical AI use, digital disinformation, and civic space erosion. KCA will also honor fallen journalists and engage stakeholders on safeguarding media freedom amid rising attacks and tech disruptions.

“AI is changing the newsroom, but it must not erode journalistic ethics or silence critical voices,” said William Oloo Janak, KCA’s Director of Programs.
