The family of the late Edward Kwach has announced that he will be buried on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at his ancestral home in Simenya, Homa Bay County. His body will leave Nairobi the previous day, Friday, May 9.

As funeral plans progress, the family is appealing to friends, colleagues, fans, and the corporate community for financial support to help settle a KSh 4.2 million hospital bill accrued during his month-long treatment before he succumbed to meningitis on April 28, at the age of 44.

Edward Kwach was a towering figure in Kenyan radio, known for his charismatic voice and sharp wit that captivated listeners from the late 1990s. He worked across several major media houses, including Kiss FM, Nation FM, Capital FM, Homeboyz Radio, EA FM, and Spice FM.

The funeral committee is calling on those who encountered his work—whether through events he emceed, brands he voiced, or broadcasts that brought joy and insight—to help honor his legacy.

“He made us laugh, think, and feel connected. His humour, language, and theatre enriched our lives. If he ever made you smile or think, this is your chance to say thank you,” reads a heartfelt statement from the committee.

Contributions can be sent via Paybill number 8061531, Account: Your Name.

A fundraising event was held on Monday, May 5, at All Saints Cathedral, with another scheduled for Tuesday at 5pm, same venue. A memorial service will follow on Thursday, May 8, at 2pm, also at All Saints Cathedral.

“Let’s come together one last time and give Kwach the sendoff he deserves,” the statement concludes.
